French social taxes ( contribution sociale gnralise , contribution pour le remboursement de la dette sociale , contribution sociale sur l'impt sur les socits ) are within the scope of the new DTT. This is a major change since those taxes did not exist when the former DTT was put into place and since, as a result, the mechanism of double-taxation avoidance could not apply to them.
